Why the Student Plan Has No Free Trial
Student has no free trial. For Me has three days at €0. Around Me has three days at €0. Monthly (Premium) has seven days at €1.99. Student’s trial length is zero by design. You add a card and you pay from day one. The plan card CTA is Get Student — €9.99/month, not “start a free week.”
That is a feature of the offer, not a bug in checkout. This page exists because people reasonably assume every paid tier on My Path copies the same trial pattern, then write in when Student asks for money immediately. The form is doing what the plan says.
GBP for Student is £9.99. PLN is zł49.99. The trial column does not change with currency. Zero days in euros is zero days in pounds and złoty.
The trial column, plan by plan
| Plan | Price | Tokens / month | Trial | Education |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| For Me | €4.99 | 100 | 3 days, €0 | none |
| Student | €9.99 | 250 | none | unlimited |
| Around Me | €9.99 | 250 | 3 days, €0 | none |
| Premium (Monthly) | €19.99 | 2000 | 7 days, €1.99 | unlimited |
For Me’s trial is a free look at the self-knowledge plan: personality and cognitive tests, 100 tokens, no Education. Around Me’s trial is a free look at people-tracking: the Around Me shelf, 250 tokens, no Education. Monthly’s trial is a cheap look at the full paid surface, including Education, at €1.99 for seven days — not €0, but not the full €19.99 either.
Student is the row without a look. Unlimited Education plus For Me plus 250 tokens, €9.99, card required, no grace disguised as a trial. What Student is is that bundle. Who gets Education is Student and Monthly only. This page is only the trial fact.
Why days equal zero
Education is a study entitlement, not a teaser. The live catalogue is six tests with large banks — General English around 577 items, the other three languages around 576 each, Math Kangaroo past-paper items across grade bands, General Math over the whole maths bank. A three-day window is long enough to binge a meaningful slice of that bank and leave. That is a fine way to evaluate a personality test. It is a poor way to sell unlimited practice.
Personality results are already free without any plan. You do not need a trial to see a Big Five profile. For Me’s trial is mostly about whether the paid AI layer and the For Me feature set are worth €4.99 after you already know your scores. Around Me’s trial is about whether tracking people is worth €9.99. Both of those questions benefit from a short, reversible look because the value is interpretive and social. You can tell in three days whether you will keep opening those shelves.
Education’s value is repetition. One sitting tells you the UI works. Ten sittings tell you whether you will drill. A trial that gives you the unlimited entitlement for free is not a sample of Student. It is Student, briefly unpaid. We do not offer that sample.
Monthly still has a trial that includes Education because Monthly is a different commercial object: €19.99, 2000 tokens, Around Me, priority support, seven days at €1.99. That €1.99 is not a free Education week. It is a paid, short Monthly. If your actual goal is “try Education before Student,” Monthly’s trial is the only trial that opens Education — and it opens the rest of Monthly with it. It is not a Student trial. We do not have a Student trial. Do not invent one in a blog comment and then treat checkout as broken when it fails to match.
Signup grace does not open Education
New accounts sometimes have a signup grace window. That window does not include Education. Grace is not a secret Student. Grace is not a secret Monthly. Education stays locked until a Student or Monthly subscription is actually live.
If you created an account, saw a few days of something that felt premium, and then clicked Education expecting Kangaroo to start, the lock is correct. For Me and Around Me also do not include Education after you pay, so a grace period on those funnels would not open it either. The only paid rows that include Education are Student and Monthly. Student still has no trial. Monthly’s trial is the €1.99 week, not grace.
This distinction matters for honesty in ads and in support. “Sign up and try Education free” is not a sentence we can print. “Sign up, add a card, pay €9.99, then Education opens on Student” is accurate. “Sign up, pay €1.99, try Monthly for seven days, Education included” is also accurate. Mixing those sentences is how rumours of a Student trial get started.
What “you pay from day one” means in practice
You choose Student on plans. You add a payment method. You are charged €9.99 (or £9.99, or zł49.99) for the first month. Education opens. For Me stays available. Around Me does not open. Tokens reset on the monthly cycle at 250. There is no three-day clock. There is no €0 invoice first.
If you cancel before the next renewal, you paid for the month you used. That month is the experiment. Is Student worth it? argues you should only start that experiment if you can name a live test you will sit in the next fortnight. The six live tests are General English, General French, General German, General Spanish, Math Kangaroo, and General Math. SAT, GCSE, TOEFL, IELTS, Abitur, E8, and Physics are not live. A trial would not have brought those back either.
Refunds are a billing policy, not a trial. Do not subscribe on the theory that a refund is the missing free look. If you do not want to pay unless you have already practised, you will not like this SKU. That is acceptable. The SKU is built for people who already know they want the study loop.
Switching onto Student from For Me or Around Me is also not a trial. You were already paying. The Education hub opens when the Student entitlement is live, not three days later and not three days free. Switching down from Monthly after the €1.99 week is a plan change, not the start of a Student trial you were owed. Days remain zero on the Student row no matter which row you came from.
Before you add a card you can still inspect the product without a trial. The six test cards on Education are visible while locked. You can read Education on My Path, how the hub works, and the subject guides. You can take For Me personality tests and keep the results for free. None of that is Education unlimited. None of that is a Student trial wearing a different name.
We are not “about to add” a Student trial in the sense that checkout is unfinished. Other tiers have trials because their jobs benefit from a reversible look. Student’s job is a large practice bank. Giving that bank away for three days at €0 would be a different SKU. Until we sell that SKU, the one on the page has no trial. If a future pricing change adds days, it will say so on premium. Do not assume the current card is a mistake because For Me’s card has days.
What the other trials are for (so you do not steal them)
For Me, 3 days, €0. Use this if you want to feel the paid self-knowledge plan. It will not open Education. Buying For Me’s trial to “see a maths paper” wastes the trial. For Me has zero Education on day one and on day thirty.
Around Me, 3 days, €0. Use this if you want to feel people-tracking. Same price as Student after the trial, opposite module. It will not open Education. Using Around Me’s trial as a substitute Student trial fails for the same reason: Education is not on Around Me. Student vs For Me vs Around Me is the grid.
Monthly, 7 days, €1.99. Use this if you want a short, paid look at the full plan, Education included. You will also see Around Me, the 2000-token bucket, and priority support. If after seven days you only wanted Education, switching down to Student is the move — and Student will still have no trial on that switch; you already paid €1.99 to look. If you only wanted Education and you already knew that, skip the Monthly theatre and buy Student.
None of those trials are a bug in Student’s missing one. They are different offers. Copying For Me’s three free days onto Student would give away a large practice bank. Copying Around Me’s three free days onto Student would imply Student is a people product. Copying Monthly’s €1.99 week onto Student would underprice a plan we already sell at €9.99 with a cleaner job.
“No trial” is part of how we describe Student
On the plan card, in the CTA, and in this article, we say the same thing. Get Student — €9.99/month. No trial wording. If a screenshot from a third-party roundup added “7-day free trial” next to Student, that roundup is wrong. Correct it against this page and against premium.
We also do not hide the empty trial behind a footnote. Days = 0 is as much a property of Student as the €9.99 and the 250 tokens and the Education tick. Unlimited Education is the entitlement you are paying on day one. You are not paying to start a clock.
House style on My Path is to say the limit out loud. We do not claim official exam affiliation. We do not claim listening and speaking. We do not claim the Exams shelf is full when it is empty. We do not claim Student has a trial when days are zero. The same discipline.
If you need a look before paying for Education
Your legal options are:
- Read the public pages. Education on My Path, the hub, General English, General Math, Math Kangaroo. The cards on Education are visible while locked. You can see what you would sit.
- Take Monthly’s seven days at €1.99 if you want a live sitting before committing to €9.99/month on Student or €19.99 on Monthly. That is a paid Monthly trial, not a Student trial.
- Buy Student and treat month one as the look. Cancel if you did not practise. Do not buy it as a personality-score unlock; scores are free.
There is no option 4: a Student trial. Asking support to enable one is asking for a plan we do not sell.
People also ask whether the first month is prorated to look like a trial if they subscribe mid-cycle, or whether a failed payment plus retry is a free window. Neither is a trial. A paid month is a paid month. A failed payment is a locked hub. Retrying the card does not grant Education in the gap. The lock is the product telling you the entitlement is not live.
If you hold For Me or Around Me and you only wanted their trials, take those trials and stay off Student until you are ready to pay for Education. Using a For Me trial as a waiting room for Student does not accrue Student credit. The day you switch, you pay Student’s price and Student’s rules: Get Student — €9.99/month, no trial wording.
Pay from day one, on purpose
Student is For Me plus unlimited Education at €9.99 / £9.99 / zł49.99, 250 tokens, no Around Me, no trial. Other paid tiers have trials. This one does not. Signup grace does not fill the gap.
If that is acceptable, Get Student — €9.99/month and open Education. If it is not, pick a tier that has a trial and accept that For Me and Around Me still will not include Education — or pay €1.99 to trial Monthly, which will.
