Is the Student Plan Worth It? An Honest Look

Student is worth €9.99 a month if you will actually practise languages, maths, or Math Kangaroo on My Path. It is not worth €9.99 a month if you wanted Around Me — people-tracking — and grabbed the other €9.99 plan by accident. It is not worth it if you only wanted personality results; those stay free. It is not worth it as a “maybe I’ll study later” subscription. The product does not improve while it sits unused.

This page is the value argument, not the feature list. The feature list is what Student is. The grid against the other tiers is Student vs For Me vs Around Me. Here we ask whether the invoice makes sense.

GBP is £9.99 for the same plan. PLN is zł49.99. The arithmetic below uses euros because that is the list price we quote; the local figures keep the same rank against For Me (€4.99 / £4.99 / zł24.99) and Monthly (€19.99 / £19.99 / zł99.99).

What you are buying

Two things, not one.

Unlimited Education sittings. The Education hub has six live public tests: General English, General French, General German, General Spanish, Math Kangaroo, and General Math. On Student you may sit them without a sitting cap. Practice sessions, review, retry-wrong, retry-flagged, full retakes, AI explanations, gap reports, the study plan, and progress history are the advertised Education surface. That surface is what unlimited Education refers to. It is not a metaphor for “quite a few papers.” It is uncapped sittings for those six tests.

250 tokens per month. Tokens meter AI that is not the Education entitlement — personality analysis and other token-priced features. Student’s bucket is larger than For Me’s 100 and the same as Around Me’s 250. It is far smaller than Monthly’s 2000.

Those meters do not substitute for each other. Running out of tokens does not shut Education. Sitting fifty German papers does not refill tokens. People who ask “is 250 tokens enough to study?” are mixing the meters. Study is the Education entitlement. 250 is the AI wallet for everything else, with Education’s own AI explanations sitting on the Education side of the plan card.

You also keep For Me: your own personality and cognitive tests. You do not keep Around Me. Student is For Me plus Education. It is not Around Me plus Education. It is not a trial. Student has no free trial. You add a card and you pay from day one.

When it is worth it

It is worth it if a normal month for you includes some of the following, on purpose, not as a fantasy about a more disciplined version of you.

You are learning English, French, German, or Spanish and you will drill vocabulary, grammar, reading, or writing against a CEFR-shaped bank. Four skills, six levels, no listening, no speaking, no official Cambridge / DELF / Goethe / DELE affiliation. If that bank matches how you actually practise — timed or untimed sets of 10, 20, or 60 items, one level per sitting — Student is a cheap way to stop paying per paper on a site that meters sittings. General English is the English-shaped version of that story.

You are drilling maths by grade band — 3–4 through 11–12 — and you want the whole bank, including items that show up as Mixed Problems when they do not fit a keyword. General Math is that sitting. Grade is required. You do not mix bands.

You are preparing for Math Kangaroo as practice on our bank, not as the official contest. We are not affiliated with Math Kangaroo / Kangourou sans Frontières. You still want your own personality tests in the same account. Student includes For Me, so you are not choosing between “know myself” and “practise German.” You are choosing that pair over “track other people.”

You are fine that the Exams shelf currently has no live tests. Practice is the live shelf. Kangaroo lives there. Named school-leaving exams (SAT, GCSE, TOEFL, IELTS, Abitur, E8, Physics) are retired. If your “worth it” calculation assumed those, recalculate against the six that exist. Education on My Path and the hub layout are the honest catalogue.

Under those conditions, €9.99 is a small number. One sitting a week for a month is four sittings. One sitting a day is thirty. The price does not change. That is the whole point of an unlimited study entitlement.

When it is not worth it

You wanted Around Me. Same €9.99, different product. Around Me tracks people. Student does not. If your actual job is a partner, a team, or a child profile, Student will feel empty and Around Me will not open Education. Pick the job, then the SKU. Do not pick the price and hope.

You only wanted personality results. Results stay free. Tokens buy AI on top of results. Education is unrelated. Paying Student to “unlock my Big Five” is paying for a door that was already open. For Me at €4.99 is the paid self-knowledge plan if you want 100 tokens and a three-day trial. Nothing is the plan if scores were all you needed.

You will not practise. A subscription to a hub you do not open is a standing order to us, not a study habit. Be blunt with yourself. If the last three times you bought a language app you opened it twice, Student will not repair that. We will still charge €9.99.

You wanted a trial. There isn’t one. If you need a free look at a paid tier, For Me and Around Me offer three days at €0, and Monthly offers seven days at €1.99. Those looks do not include Education except on Monthly’s trial, which is a trial of Monthly, not a free Student. If you will only subscribe after a free Education week, we do not sell that week.

You wanted official exams. We do not administer IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GCSE, Abitur, E8, or a physics olympiad. We do not certificate CEFR. We do not run the official Kangaroo. Practice against our bank is the product. If you need a stamp from an awarding body, pay them, not us.

You wanted listening and speaking. Language tests here are vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing. No audio. Student does not add a microphone.

You wanted For Me’s price with Education attached. For Me has zero Education. There is no €4.99 Education plan. The Education prices are €9.99 (Student) and €19.99 (Monthly).

Tokens versus sittings, because this confusion is expensive

Worth-it arithmetic fails when you treat 250 tokens as “how much Education I get.”

Education sittings are uncapped on Student. That is the study meter. It is binary: you have the entitlement or you do not. For Me does not. Around Me does not. Student does. Monthly does.

Tokens are a monthly allowance for AI features that are priced in tokens. 250 is mid-tier. If you run a lot of personality synthesis, you may burn 250 without touching Education, and Education will still be there. If you never touch personality AI and you sit Education every evening, you may finish the month with tokens left and a long practice history. Both months can be “worth it.” They are worth it for different reasons.

Gap analysis and AI explanations on Education are part of the Education entitlement as advertised on the plan card. Do not budget them as if they were surprise token sinks that make Student a trap. Do budget the 250 for the For Me AI you actually use. If that For Me AI is heavy, Monthly’s 2000 is the honest upgrade, not a second Student.

Signup grace does not open Education. A new account is not secretly on Student for a few days. Worth-it calculations that assume a free first week of papers are calculating a product we do not sell.

Cost against the other three plans

Versus For Me (€4.99): you pay an extra €5 for Education and 150 extra tokens, and you lose the three-day free trial. That extra €5 is worth it only if Education is in use. If it is not, For Me is the better self-knowledge plan and you should not be on this page.

Versus Around Me (€9.99): same money, same tokens, opposite module. Worth is not a comparison of price. It is a comparison of jobs. One of these plans is worth it for you. Rarely both, unless you should be on Monthly.

Versus Monthly (€19.99): you pay €10 less, get 1750 fewer tokens, lose Around Me, lose priority support, and lose the €1.99 seven-day trial. Student is worth it relative to Monthly if you do not need people-tracking and 250 tokens will do. Monthly is worth it if you would otherwise miss Around Me or hit the token ceiling. Do not buy Monthly “to be safe” if Student already matches the work. Do not buy Student “to save money” if you will immediately need child profiles.

A year of Student is twelve times €9.99. That is a real amount of money. It is still less than most weekly tutoring hours. It is more than free. The honest middle: Student is cheap for a used study loop and expensive for an unused icon in a nav bar.

What a used month looks like, so the word is not vague: two or three language sittings a week at the default 20 questions, or a Kangaroo paper on the weekend plus a General Math drill on the band you are actually studying. That is already more practice than a €9.99 invoice is asking you to justify. One sitting in four weeks is not a used month. Bookmarking Education and meaning to start is not a used month. Personality tests you were going to take anyway do not count — those results stay free.

GBP and PLN do not change the test. £9.99 or zł49.99 is still a used-loop price and an unused-icon price depending on whether you sat the six live tests.

A simple test before you pay

Answer three questions without improving yourself on paper.

1. Which of the six live tests will you sit in the next fourteen days? Name one. If you cannot name one, wait.
2. Is your other job on this platform tracking people? If yes, Student is the wrong €9.99; look at Around Me or Monthly.
3. Are you buying this to see personality scores? If yes, stop. Those are free.

If you named a test, you do not need people-tracking, and you are not buying scores, Student is probably worth it. Press Get Student — €9.99/month. There is no trial, so the first month is the experiment. Cancel if you did not sit anything. Do not keep paying as a wish.

What “honest” means here

We would rather you not subscribe than subscribe for a reason that dies on the first invoice. Student is a good plan for a narrow, real use: For Me plus uncapped practice on six Education tests, 250 tokens, no people, no trial, €9.99 / £9.99 / zł49.99.

It is a bad plan for Around Me work, for score-unlock mythology, for official exam stamps, and for the hope that a subscription will create a habit you have not already started.
