Learn Spanish With Practice Tests on My Path
Most people do not fail Spanish because they lack another explanation of the preterite. They fail because they reread notes, recognise the form on the page, and never have to produce a choice without the chapter title sitting above it. Practice tests reverse that. They force retrieval: you answer, then you find out. Used badly, they are a slot machine of percentages. Used well, they are a weekly measurement of whether the Spanish you think you have is the Spanish you can use in writing.
My Path's Education hub is built for that second use. General Spanish is a CEFR-shaped bank — about 576 items, four written skills, levels A1 to C2 — sitting next to General English, French, German, General Math, and Math Kangaroo. You pick one CEFR band per sitting. You do not get listening, speaking, or an official diploma. You get a session you can configure, a review you can retry, and a mastery bar that tracks topics rather than fantasies.
This article is the study method. The product map is Spanish practice test: CEFR A1 to C2. The skill pages are grammar, reading, and vocabulary. Read those when you need the details of a skill. Use this page to decide what you sit on which day, and what you ignore.
What you are actually practising
A practice test on this platform is not a DELE paper and not a classroom exam. It is a sample of one cell in a grid: one skill (or a mixed draw from the bank's filters), one CEFR level, a size of 10, 20, or 60 questions. Default size is 20. Timer can be off, relaxed, or exam mode. Feedback can be immediate or at the end. Navigation can be free or forward-only. You can skip ("I don't know") and flag.
Those controls are the method. Immediate feedback plus timer off is a lesson. End-of-session review plus exam mode is a test. If you only ever sit lessons, your scores will look better than your Spanish. If you only ever sit tests, you will not install the forms you miss. Alternate them on purpose.
The bank has four skills: vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing. It does not have listening or speaking. Learning Spanish "with practice tests" here means learning the written system. Conversation, pronunciation, and comprehension of speech still need other input — a tutor, a tandem, media, an official oral if you sit one. Pretending otherwise would sell you a story. My Path is not affiliated with Instituto Cervantes and does not offer DELE as a product.
Place yourself once, then stop shopping for a level
The most expensive habit in self-study is changing the difficulty every session so the score stays flattering. CEFR letters make that habit easy: there is always a higher band that looks like ambition.
Do this instead. Sit 10 questions at A2 and 10 at B1, timer off, mixed or grammar, immediate feedback. Look at the error lists, not the percentages. If A2 is clean and B1 is a pile of the same three structures, your working band is B1 with an A2 floor. If A2 is already a pile, your working band is A1 or A2; B1 can wait. Then lock the working band for at least a week.
The platform will not mix bands inside one sitting. If you select several CEFR levels, it still rolls one. That is the same design as maths grade bands, explained in why grade bands matter. Learn to like it. Mixed scores are how people stay "intermediate" for years.
Re-probe a neighbouring band with 10 questions when the working band's end-of-session scores have been stably high and the error types have changed, not when you are bored. Boredom is not placement.
A four-week shape, not a life overhaul
You do not need a 90-day challenge. You need a shape you can repeat.
Week 1 — find the floor. Two or three sittings in the working band: one grammar-heavy, one vocabulary, one reading. Immediate feedback. Build a short miss list. No 60-question papers. No C2 "to see."
Week 2 — retrieval without the answer key. Same band. Same skills. Switch to review-at-end for at least two sittings. Retry wrong and flagged between them. If scores collapse, you were dependent on immediate explanations. That is information. Stay in the band; add a grammar or vocab drill on the collapsing structure, then test again.
Week 3 — pressure and production. Keep the band. Add exam-mode on one sitting. Add writing items if you have been avoiding them. Writing is where vocabulary you "knew" in multiple choice fails to appear. Reading remains the check that grammar you drilled still works in a paragraph.
Week 4 — decide up or stay. One 20-question end-review sitting per skill you care about. If the miss list is short and boring, probe the next CEFR with 10 questions. If the miss list is the same as week 1, you do not have a level problem. You have a review problem. Do not promote yourself to escape it.
Rest days are allowed. Streaks and badges (first lesson, perfect score, seven-day streak, topic master at 80%, exam ready, polyglot) exist and can help a habit. They are not the curriculum. Topic mastery with complexity 1–5 tells you how this bank sees a topic. It does not tell a university or an embassy anything.
How to spend a single sitting
Before you start, name the job in one line: "install preterite/imperfect," "measure B1 reading without hints," "collect false friends." Then pick the control that matches the job. Random defaults produce random weeks.
During the sitting, skip when you do not know. Flag when you hesitate. Do not negotiate with an item for three minutes unless the job was "learn this item." A practice test is a sample. Treating every question as a research project is how 20 items become an hour you will not repeat.
After submit, spend more time on the review than on the sitting. Sort misses into vocabulary, grammar, and reading-rhetoric. Retry wrong the same day or the next, not next month. Full retake is for when you want a second measurement, not for when you want the percentage to go up on familiar items. Familiar items inflate scores. The retry-wrong set is the actual lesson.
AI gap analysis is available when your plan's Education tokens cover it. Use it if the miss list is long and mixed. Then still open the items. A summary that says "subjunctive" does not conjugate the verb for you.
What to combine with the bank (and what not to)
Practice tests do not replace input. They tell you whether input is turning into control. Pair the sittings with a small amount of unscored Spanish at the same band or slightly below: a short article, a graded reader, messages you could actually receive. When a word from Monday's vocabulary sitting appears on Wednesday's page, that is transfer. When it never appears, keep it on your personal list anyway; the bank is finite.
Do not pair the bank with five other apps that also give you streaks. You will service the streaks and skip the review. One scored system plus one input source is enough.
Do not use this bank to "practise DELE." You can use CEFR-shaped drill while you also prepare for an official diploma, in the same way you can run stairs while training for a race. The race is still a different event, with listening, speaking, and papers My Path does not sell. Anyone implying otherwise is not describing this product.
Do not expect For Me or Around Me to include Education. They do not. IQ tests are not Education; they live elsewhere in the product. The Education shelf is exam preparation: study, practise, pass — in the practice-test sense, not in the "we run the official exam" sense. Currently the Exams shelf has no live named qualifications. Practice is what is on.

If you already study another language here
The sitting UI is shared. General English is about 577 items; French and German about 576. Same four skills, same CEFR lock. That makes a bilingual week easy to run and easy to confuse. A B1 in French does not place you in Spanish B1. Keep the miss lists in different notes. Overviews: English, German, French.
If you only want Spanish, ignore the other banks until the Spanish miss list is boring. Polyglot badges are not a reason to split a week into four weak floors.
Failure modes that look like studying
A few patterns show up as soon as someone has a login and a streak. They are not moral failures. They are just ways to spend sittings without moving the miss list.
Promoting on boredom. You sit B1 until the items feel familiar, then jump to C1 so it feels like work again. Familiar B1 items are not the same as a stable B1. Exhausting a cell of a finite bank is expected. The next move is a different skill at B1, or unscored reading at B1, not a C1 shock.
Rerunning the same 20 until the percentage is pretty. Full retake is for a second measurement after you have studied the misses elsewhere. If the only study you did was the retake, you memorised a form of those items. The review's retry-wrong set is the legitimate repeat. A pretty score on a memorised set will not survive a new 20.
Timer as identity. Exam mode every day because you "work well under pressure" usually means you never installed the form. Off-timer sittings are not easier in the sense that matters; they are the condition under which you can still think. Earn exam mode.
One skill forever. Grammar every day because it feels like Spanish class. Then a reading sitting at the same band collapses. That collapse was the real measurement. Rotate vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing inside the week, even if one of them is uncomfortable. Uncomfortable is often the skill you have been avoiding, not the one you have mastered.
Collecting topics instead of closing two. The topic filter is real and closed. It is tempting to tour every label. Close two structures or two lexical contrasts, then open a third. Mastery bars will look slower. The Spanish will not.
If you catch yourself in one of these, you do not need a new app. You need the next sitting to have a one-line job, a matching feedback mode, and a review you actually sort.
Honesty about outcomes
Practice tests will not get you into a university, will not issue a diploma, and will not make you sound like a radio host. They will, if you review them, make it obvious which written forms you do not have. That obviousness is the whole advantage over highlighting a textbook.
A month of this method is a few hours, not a personality change. Miss lists should get shorter or change character. If they do neither, change the band or the review habit, not the platform's colour scheme.
